The following article is taken from Marc’s book, Creative Haircutting My Way and is a great place to start ahead of your hairdressing training.
It is indisputable that the most beautiful things in life are created by Mother Nature, who, in her wisdom, remembered to bestow these gifts upon us simple human beings. It was La Bruyere who summed it all up when he said, “There are no ugly women, there are only women who do not know how to look pretty”. Of course, what he did not mean was the painted cameo faces of yesteryear, he was referring to that certain beauty radiated through glowing skin, bright eyes, trim body and healthy, well-conditioned hair. Mother Nature gives us the physical qualities to become attractive, but it is we, who through misuse and neglect, can so easily destroy our finest assets, yet it is possible to retain these features throughout life, for whilst we all suffer from the process of ageing, a healthy approach to life both physical and mental creates an inner loveliness which is everlasting.
Our philosophy, therefore, is simple – start to value your body from an early age. The correct way to promote a fit and healthy body is through a well-balanced diet and regular exercise, for these two factors are the very foundation upon which we should build.
There have been many books written on both diet and exercise, so it is not our intention to tell you what to eat nor how to exercise, for we are all individual and what is beneficial to one person may not be so to another. The point that we do stress is that by taking care of ourselves through diet and exercise, it is possible to remain fit and healthy in both mind and body for many, many years.
